Joan's head

Finally had some time and energy to pick up the Joan character again. I've actually got a lot done, but not too much too show. Just a lot of technicalities like unwrapping her and so on. I've barely started on the shading/texturing part, and I've concentrated on her head for now. I think I've taken her a big step forward, but as usual it's easy to just tweak yourself blind. I've worked a lot on the shape, forming the muscles and traits and created a quick diffuse texture for her face. No bump, specular or anything fancy like that yet.
But since it tends to be a while between I get to work on her I figured I'd put up another render from tonight's work session. Still some minor things to do before I want to say I'm done, but if anyone has any crits & comments I'd love to hear them in the comments section :)

Crysis Warhead

Been a while since my last update. Been busy, busy as always.. But as a break from work, the Joan model and learning XSi I played through Cryis Warhead last night. I've read some mixed reviews and wasn't really sure to expect, but I liked it. Not as good as the first one, a bit more linear and the story is ... well, really nothing to talk about. But the gameplay is still great fun. Also you get to play the more interesting Psycho instead of Nomad in this game. He's British, and a bit more rough around the edges which makes the dialouges more interesting.

I recommend everyone to play on the Delta difficulty which can be frustrating at times, but imho it adds so much more to the gameplay. Rambostyle doesn't work very well, but sneaking around, concealing yourself and taking out the enemy from a distance does. The game pretty much goes through the same stages as the first one, first you fight humans, then the aliens, a mixture and ending it all with a bossfight. Luckilly Warhead doesn't include the dark, zero-gravity alien base which you enter in the first game. Personally I never liked that part. Don't mind the aliens, but that part just wasn't apealing to my taste. And the graphics are of course top notch. Especially with DX10 enabled graphics the smoke and explotions are just drool, dropdead gorgeous! :)

So it's a game I can highly recommend! It's not too long either. Maybe 5-6 hours from start to finish.
